Uganda can be visited year-round, but the best time for wildlife viewing is during the dry seasons (December to February and June to August). For gorilla trekking, while it can be done year-round, the dry seasons offer easier hiking conditions.

Gorilla trekking permits are limited and in high demand. We recommend booking at least 6-12 months in advance, especially if you plan to travel during peak season (June to September and December to February).

Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Uganda. Other recommended vaccinations include hepatitis A and B, typhoid, tetanus, and polio. Malaria prophylaxis is also strongly recommended. Please consult with a travel health specialist before your trip.

Gorilla trekking requires a moderate level of fitness. The trek can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family. The terrain is often steep, muddy, and through dense vegetation. We recommend being in good physical condition.
